While having very little luck trying to record "The Rift," frustration and boredom start to seep in; and from that, Leslie immediately started to write the music for what would become "Spunk Monkey." Writing the verse, chorus and bridge right on the spot inspired Richard to search through his lyric books and find a couple of lyrics, that he had wrote years prior, that would fit this new song. Eventually those lyrics were fleshed out to take on inspiration from Richard's wild, younger brother. As they jammed the song became more organic with Richard helping in arranging and adding nuances to this already great track. Some say it has a Red Hot Chili Pepper vocal delivery with the heaviness of Rage Against the Machines. Enjoy!
